Ngātea Service Centre and Library building farewell

What a turn out for the afternoon tea to farewell the current building. It was like a 50-year school reunion with so many people making the journey especially to share their stories and reconnect with friends and colleagues from over the years!  Thank you to the Plains community for making it a very heart-warming event. 

The demolition phase will be starting soon - initially it will all be internal work, as everything that can be recycled or repurposed will be taken out followed by wrapping the building for asbestos removal. Watch this space for updates on progress or head to the project page

Ngātea Service Centre and Library - Wed 11 June, 11:30am - 4:30pm

Our customer service team are settling in nicely to their new temporary location in the Supper Room of the Ngātea War Memorial Hall but they have one more change to their hours coming up. The Service Centre and Library will be closed on Wednesday 11 June from 11:30am - 4:30pm for training purposes.

Objections close 4:30pm, Friday 30 May 2025

If you want to object to your latest property valuation, you have until 4:30pm Friday 30 May to do so. After that, there is a cost involved. This valuation is valid for the next three years, so if you don't agree with it, now's the time put in your objection.

This is Local Elections year

Local authority elections are held every three years, with the next being held by postal vote on Saturday 11 October 2025.

Like community consultations, voting in the Local Elections is your chance to have your say - this time on the makeup of the elected members who represent you and your communities.

You'll find everything you need to know about participating in the Local Elections on our website. There are four key things to do now:

1. Check your enrolment or enrol to vote by 31 July 2025

2. Seriously consider standing for Council

3. Check how you can vote if you are a non-resident property owner in the district

4. Check out the Representation Arrangements for this year's election.

2025 Key Dates 

Nominations open - Friday 4 July Nominations close - noon, Friday 1 August

Enrolments close - 31 July 

Delivery of voting packs from - Tuesday 9 September 

Close of voting - noon, Saturday 11 October 

Official results announced - Friday 17 October
