Based on community feedback, hearing of submissions and Council's deliberations, we're pleased to present our Final Proposal for the makeup of Council for the 2025 Local Government elections: Plains Ward – 4 Councillors. Paeroa Ward – 3 Councillors Waihī Ward – 4 Councillors Māori Ward – 2 Councillors (decision re Māori Ward not part of this Representation Review) One Mayor Total: 13 Councillors and one Mayor There will be no changes to the Paeroa and Plains Ward boundaries as initially proposed.

Feedback is open until 4:30pm Wednesday 7 August Have a read of the Public Notice for a full breakdown of the submissions and the reasoning behind the final decision and if you want to put in an Appeal or Objection, you have until 4:30pm on Wednesday 7 August to lodge it. Note: Council has resolved to have a Māori ward for the 2025 local government election and is not proposing to rescind that resolution. Any appeal or objection to this decision is out of scope for this representation review. Depending on the outcome of a bill before parliament a binding poll on Māori wards will be held at the next triennial election in 2025. |
