Our Plains, Our Future,
Your Voice

We're at a crucial stage with Our Plains Our Future, the draft adaptation pathways are ready to share, and we need your input before we move forward.

Your Community Panel has helped us shortlist the options, but now we need to hear from the wider community. Different parts of the Plains need different solutions, and your local knowledge is invaluable in getting this right.

What you tell us now will directly shape what gets prioritised, where, and when. Let's plan together for what happens next. 🌾

Join us at our October open days (see dates below) or if you can't catch up in person complete the online survey.

Love Your Land? Love your drain

Clear drains aren't just about keeping water moving — they protect your property, your neighbours, and the whole community from flooding and erosion.

Our drains aren't just channels for water! They are corridors for native fish like īnanga and kōkopu. Healthy water flow and clear pathways support the ecosystem that make our plains thrive.

Our drains also play an important role in helping our rural economy thrive — they protect productive farmland and keep farming and horticulture operations running smoothly, which supports jobs, businesses, and livelihoods right across Hauraki.

When you care for your drain, you're caring for your land and everyone around you. A little maintenance makes a big difference.

With over $9.1 million of roading work happening across Hauraki this summer, there's a lot going on — and we want to make sure you're never caught off guard.

Here's how to stay up to date:

✅ Download Antenno — get notifications specific to your address when work is coming near you

✅ Follow us on Facebook — we post updates, location alerts, and progress throughout the season

✅ Check our alerts page — for the latest on each area of work as it progresses

✅ View the Summer Roadworks Map — see what's planned across the whole district

Things can change — weather, ground conditions, and other factors can shift our schedule. We'll always let you know as soon as we do. The more you're connected, the less likely you are to be surprised by a road closure on a busy morning!

Summer road resealing is getting underway

It's time for our annual summer road resealing programme.

From mid-October our teams will be out across the district keeping our roads safe and in great shape.

Here's what to expect:

• If your street is due for resealing this summer, you’ll get a letter before it’s your turn.
•Temporary traffic management will be in place.
•Residents will always have access to their homes.
•Please slow to 30km/h through work sites.
•Short delays, usually around 10 minutes.
•We'll post updates on Antenno before work starts on your street.
•Loose chips may be present on newly sealed roads.

Please take extra care on bikes and motorbikes. The programme is weather-dependent, so the schedule may change. Line marking follows once the seal has settled, so take extra care on newly sealed roads until then.

Waikato Waters wants to hear from you.

You might be wondering, what's Waikato Waters got to do with me right now?
Fair question!  Here is why it matters ...

While Hauraki District Council currently manages your water and wastewater services, from 1 July 2027 Waikato Waters will take over as your provider. That means the decisions they make now will affect you down the track.

Right now, Waikato Waters is consulting on their Significance and Engagement Policy. This is the framework that sets out how they'll seek community input before making decisions that could have a real impact on your water services. Think of it as their promise to the community on when and how they'll listen.

Getting this right matters. A good policy means your voice will be heard when it counts, whether that's changes to services, pricing structures, or infrastructure decisions.

We encourage you to take a look at the proposed policy and share your thoughts before 5pm, Friday 30 October.

This is also a friendly reminder for those living near the area to expect the streets to be busy. Please also spare a thought for our furry and feathered neighbours around the domain and keep our animals safe and indoors. Expect pyrotechnic noise from dusk for 15 minutes.
