Change to frequency of rates bill

The average rates increase remains at 17.4 per cent and in an effort to save on costs and increase efficiencies, rates bills will change from quarterly instalments to bi-annual instalments. 

You'll receive your first land rates bill in October, followed by the second one in April next year. Water bills are also bi-annual, (except if you are on the very high water use bi-monthly schedule).

 If you're already on a direct debit, you won't need to do anything - you'll hear from us with your new direct debit amount once the rates have been set.

If you're not already paying your rates by direct debit, we really encourage it as the best way to stay on top of your payments and avoid late payment penalties.

If being environmentally conscious is important to you and you're keen to save on administration costs, sign up to receive your Council bills and correspondence by email. 

This means you'll help us to save on postage and paper (that's got to be good for the trees). The more rate payers we have signed up for email correspondence, the greater the cost savings and increased efficiencies for everyone.

During the feedback period we received some great suggestions and comments, which really helped with our decision-making. After listening to everyone’s thoughts and ideas, we made some key decisions.

The 2024-2034 Long Term Plan is our key planning document that outlines our work programme and strategic direction for the next ten years. This came into effect on 1 July 2024.
