A word from the Community Engagement Librarian ... We are shaking things up this month with an introduction from your Community Engagement Librarian! You might be wondering exactly what a Community Engagement Librarian does and this newsletter gives the perfect examples. Firstly, you’ll see me out and about at the upcoming Paeroa’s Children’s Day on Sunday 16 March where we will have giveaways and be on hand to answer all your library questions, so make sure to come and say hello at our stall. I also attended our Community Library Interest Group meeting last month which was held at Whiritoa Library. These meetings are invaluable for the volunteers who run the Community Libraries and we are so pleased to be able to support them. Book launches are one of my favourite events to hold in the library and we were lucky enough to have local author and illustrator, Robyn Tucker, launch her new picture book “Who Saved the Hens?” at Waihī Library. It was a fantastic morning full of song and dance and signing books! If you’re a local author looking for a venue to host your book launch, why not get in touch? I’d love to hear your feedback on our newsletters too; do you enjoy the content? Feel like something is missing? Reach out and let me know! We look forward to seeing you at our libraries soon.
