Pipiroa Road Closure Postponed
Due to the expected weather conditions this week, the planned road closure on Pipiroa Road (Monday 31 March – Thursday 3 April) has been postponed until further notice.
We’ll provide an update once new dates are confirmed.

Progress Continues on Hauraki Road
Thank you to the Tūrua and wider community for your patience, understanding and cooperation as we continue these essential upgrades on Hauraki Road.
Our contractor is running a few days behind schedule and is due to finalise the works in early May.
As we move into the next phase, we'll be extending works around the school and to the other side of the road.
To help keep traffic moving, we’re adjusting our traffic management approach and some Stop/Go controls will be in place. Alternative routes remain available for those who prefer.
During this time, access to the eastern side of Raratuna Street will be closed, with a designated access route via Waihou Street for residents and school buses.
We appreciate your continued patience as we work hard to complete these important upgrades.

The Ngātea Recycling Centre will be open as usual, but there'll be no green waste drop off available on Wednesday as staff need to be on site for that.
Everything will be back to normal on Thursday, 10 April, with both transfer stations open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

District-wide Water Meter Replacements
We are upgrading over 8,800 water meters across the district. Many of these meters have been in service for over 10 years and are due for replacement.
👀 Spot our works team?
They’re renewing around 150 meters in your area over the next few weeks. You might experience a short water shutdown (15-30 mins). Once your new meter is in place, run your taps for a couple of minutes to clear any discolouration.
We may need access to some properties to replace the meters, so please be kind to our team—they’re doing their best to keep disruptions to a minimum.

HDC actively monitors for leaks, but we rely on you to be our extra eyes.
If you see water where it shouldn’t be—trickling along roads, pooling in odd places, or hear running water—please let us know.

With continued dry conditions and while we wait for rain, it's more important than ever to use water wisely. Simple actions like fixing leaks, limiting outdoor water use, and being mindful of everyday water habits can make a difference.
Tūrua Domain update
If you're a dog looking for some exercise at the Tūrua Domain, check out the new fenced in area for off leash play! Owners, remember to supervise at all times. With the new playground equipment as well, the Domain is looking pretty sharp and user friendly.
Is it a Bird? Plane? No, helicopter!
Over the next few weeks, and through to June 2025, weather dependent, Council staff and contractors will be entering on to some private properties, to spray aquatic weeds by vehicle or helicopter using an approved weed control chemical or to clear drains using an excavator.
