Milton Streetscape Beautification Project Design Options
Council was presented with the Landscape Architect’s design options, following confirmation of the $2.25M budget for the Milton Streetscape beautification project.
Council decided to obtain tender prices to make an informed decision on the options for beautification of the Main Street at a later date.
Bruce Community Facility Special Consultation Document
Council received and approved a draft Consultation Document and consultation timeline, prior to commencing a special consultation process on the future of the proposed Bruce Community Facility.
Consultation will open on Monday 23 September at 9am, and close on Wednesday, 23 October.
Two information sessions will be held in Milton on Thursday, 26 September.
Telford Bursary 2024
Winners of the 2024 Telford Bursary, Ashleigh Coull and Drue Thomas, were presented with their certificates and each briefly addressed Council, thanking the councillors and speaking of their future plans.
Ms Coull was awarded $2,000 and Ms Thomas was awarded $1,000.
West Otago Community Centre
Funding
A funding request of $13,000 was approved for the West Otago Community Centre.
This funding was approved in the 2021-31 Long Term Plan but missed the submission round for the 2024-34 LTP.
Proposed Category A Projects – 2024/25
Council approved the Proposed Category A Projects for the 2024/25 rating year, including the Balmoral/Tuapeka Water Scheme and Lawrence water supply project, an IT software upgrade, the Milton Community Facility and Main street projects, and various Mt Cooee, wastewater and water compliance projects.
Proposed Council Meeting Dates 2025
Next year’s Council and Committee meeting dates were confirmed by Council, setting the schedule for the Council, Risk & Assurance, Standing Committees, Youth Council and Community Board meetings of 2025.
Land Transport Programme Update 2024-27
Council was presented with the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) approved 2024-27 Land Transport Programme for Clutha District Council and some significant impacts were highlighted.
This included significant reductions in funding of $1.9M for the Walking and Cycling Activity Class, a reduction in funding for the Safety Activity Class ($134K), and reduction in funding for the Low Cost Low Risk Improvement Work Category ($2.4M).
Residents Survey 2024
The annual resident survey for the 2023/24 year was conducted during June 2024 and Councillors were presented with the results of the survey.
The telephone survey resulted in 301 randomly selected residents giving their perceptions on a range of aspects relating to Council and elected members and Council services and facilities.
An additional 164 residents chose to complete the survey online.
Local Water Done Well Update
Council received an update of Local Water Done Well, as well as further information and a shortlist of options that was provided to the Joint Otago-Southland Mayoral Forum.
Regional collaboration opportunities are being explored to develop a regional delivery model for water services.
Feedback on the direction of the LWSW Otago-Southland working group is to be discussed by the forum in two weeks after discussions within their respective Councils.
Council agreed that they are open to all options and will reconvene with the forum in two weeks.
