Lawrence-Tuapeka Reserve Management Plan: Feedback and Amendments

Council has approved the drafting of a final version of a Reserve Management Plan for reserves in Lawrence-Tuapeka.

Councillors considered nearly 100 submissions on the draft plan, and approved it moving to the final stage, with amendments.

They voted to retain motocross activity (a focus of many submitters) on the Lawrence Gymkhana Club grounds. Submissions on this topic were wide ranging. There were those who felt that it should not be allowed at all, those who thought that it should be permitted but with restrictions, and those whose view was that it should continue unrestricted.

Councillors also agreed that separate work will be undertaken to manage lease arrangements and management plans for activities.

The final version of the Lawrence-Tuapeka Reserve Mangement Plan will be available from our website at: https://www.cluthadc.govt.nz/council/plans-and-strategies/plans

Council meeting dates for 2022 are confirmed

A schedule of council meetings for 2022, leading up to the local government elections on October 8, has been approved. The schedule is available on the council website (www.cluthadc.govt.nz)

Annual report for 2020-2021 approved

The council’s annual report for 2020-2021 was adopted. A review of spending, changes to the council’s financial position, and revenue are among the subjects highlighted.

Annual Reports are part of a cycle which includes Long Term Plans (every three years) and Annual Plans in the two years between Long Term Plans.

The annual report compares the council's actual activities and performance during the year with the planned activities and performance for the year as set out in its 2018/28 Long Term Plan and 2020/21 Annual Plan.

It is also a means of the council being accountable to the community for the decisions it has made throughout the financial year.

The final version of the annual report will be available on our website at https://www.cluthadc.govt.nz/council/annual-reports.

Resealing contract awarded

Fulton Hogan has been awarded the contract for road resealing and repairs in Clutha District for 2021/22. While the contract amount ($2.9 million) was above budget, the scope of works will be adjusted to stay within allocated budgets, and this will be reviewed on an ongoing basis during the sealing season.
