Plans on the way for Clinton and Clutha Valley
The spotlight on Clinton and Clutha Valley when Clutha District Council kicks off consultation to help develop community plans for the areas in 2023.
The “Our Place” consultation document was approved at the Council meeting on 8 December.
It will be delivered to Clutha Valley and Clinton residents in late January to promote discussion and feedback about community facilities for the two areas.
Feedback will be used to help inform the final Our Place Clutha Valley and Our Place Clinton community plans.
These will identify the key projects council, the community, or both, will look to progress to make the areas more attractive places to live and work.
Council has been working on developing community plans for the Clutha District since 2016.
Balclutha, Waihola, Milton, The Catlins, Lawrence-Tuapeka, Kaitangata and West Otago have all been developed and can be viewed www.cluthadc.govt.nz/community-plans.
Once a community plan is approved by Council the real work begins to bring the aspirations to fruition.
Additional funding approved for relocation of hub pump station
Additional funding of $650,000 has been approved by Council to update equipment including new electrical and control panels and to underground power cables associated with the sewer pump station and two nearby stormwater pump stations.
The old pump station was nearing the end of it’s useful life and doesn’t meet modern health and safety requirements.
The new pump station has increased storage via an underground tank.
The original budget for the project was no longer sufficient due to increased costs for materials, supplies and the by taking the opportunity now there will be costs savings through efficiencies.
Updated asset management policy adopted
An updated Asset Management Policy has been adopted by Council to provide clarity around the implementation and responsibility of how council’s assets are managed.
Council owns and operates extensive networks of water, wastewater and stormwater (Three Waters), transportation infrastructure assets, housing and community facilities that are used to provide services to residents, businesses and visitors.
Asset management functions, practices, and systems are established to ensure long-term sustainable delivery of services to the community.
The purposes of this asset management policy are to provide a defined management structure and approach for the creation, operation, maintenance, renewal, and disposal of infrastructure and assets; to provide guidelines for asset and activity management; and to achieve the aims of Council.
The policy will be made available to read online at www.cluthadc.govt.nz
