You may have seen yesterday’s Three Waters reset announcement from Government. The changes replace the four originally proposed entities with ten smaller bodies, including one covering Te Tau Ihu/Marlborough, Nelson, and Tasman. While yesterday’s announcement offers minor improvements on the reform programme I’m disappointed the Government has not taken the opportunity to review the decision to use the Ngāi Tahu takiwā boundary in its proposal, meaning South Marlborough‘s water assets will still be split off from the rest of Marlborough. Marlborough ratepayers have invested heavily in our water infrastructure particuarly in recent years and all our communities rightly feel a very strong sense of ownership of those assets.
