Of the 78 building consents issued this month none went over the statutory 20 days. The trend is again showing an excellent level of compliance.
For the month of July we received 72 building consent applications and received 39 replies to further information requests.
There were 105 consents processed for the month with 53% requiring RFIs (which totaled 380 questions). This is again a slight increase from last month for the number of consents requiring RFIs and the number of questions has increased slightly. There are now 56 consents which require re-assessment. The quality of applications is an area where further investigation is required. Moving to online digital consenting, which will involve rigorous pre-vetting checks of applications, may assist with reducing these numbers over time.
- There were 265 inspections carried out with 59.6% passing. This will now require a further 107 recheck inspections.
- The dollar value for projects in July 2016 was again significantly higher than the corresponding month in 2015 (+$2,254,577.00).
- The revenue received in July 2016 increased by $10,273.14 for the corresponding month in 2015.
- The decrease in estimated value for the year can be directly contributed to large scale commercial projects in the city being issued in the early part of 2015.
- There were 7 new residential houses approved in July 2016 that had a combined estimated value of $2,084,236.00.
- As we are well into the colder months the number of wood burner applications is still relatively high with 23 being approved for the month.
There are a significant number of projects awaiting payment and for responses to further information requests which will require a concerted effort by staff to finalise these applications.
Compliance with statutory 20 day requirements has again reached 100%. This is a fantastic effort considering the amount of consents coming through and also includes a significant number of re-assessments for applications which required further information.
