Of the 45 building consents issued this month, 0 went over the statutory 20 days. The trend is again showing an excellent level of compliance
For the month of December we received 43 building consent applications and received 22 replies to further information requests.
There were 59 consents processed for the month with 52% requiring RFIs (which totalled 335 questions).
There are now 31 consent applications which require re-assessment. The quality of applications is an area where further investigation is required. The move to on-line digital consenting, which will involve rigorous pre-vetting checks of applications, may assist with reducing these numbers over time.
- There were 222 inspections carried out with only 54.1% passing. This will now require a further 102 recheck inspections which will also need to be allowed for within inspection time frames.
- The dollar value for projects in December 2016 was again significantly higher than the corresponding month in 2015 (+$2,831,432.00).
- The revenue received in December 2016 decreased slightly by $6,450.63 for the corresponding month in 2015.
- The estimated value for the year has now eclipsed 2015 figures by $4,232,497.02.
- There were 9 new residential houses approved in December 2016 that had a combined estimated value of $3,821,655.00. There is a 79% increase in the number of new dwellings compared to the same period in 2015.
- As we move toward warmer weather the number of wood burner applications has slowed down, with 6 being approved for the month.
There are a significant number of projects awaiting payment and for responses to further information requests which will require a concerted effort by staff to finalise these applications.
Compliance with the statutory 20-day requirements for building consent applications again reached 100% for the month. This is an excellent effort considering the amount of consents coming through which also includes a significant number of re-assessments for applications which required further information. Staff are working extra hours to attempt to alleviate the influx of applications pre-Christmas.
The new CCC process is working extremely well and is ensuring that projects are not “forgotten” and regular follow-ups are implemented. CCC applications for the month of December were assessed and there were no projects outside the 20 day statutory time-frames.
